Over 2 evenings in October a total of 28 people attended the 2 courses put on by the HDYFL.
The course was designed to give those attending a better idea of how to “run the line”. Participants, who were a good mix of older players, team helpers, mums and dads, with quite a variety of knowledge.
The course was expertly run by Darren Eaton who used a variety of props to help put over the messages. Participants had plenty of exercise getting up and down and practicing how and when to wave the flag.
Points covered included the various signals, movement along the touchline, and how to use the flag, all with the purpose of assisting the referee.
Also covered some basic laws of the game, ball in and out of play, and discussion on offside. This was carried out with the aid of good old fashioned Subbuteo on the table. People were able to ask a wide variety of questions and in between have fun.
Everyone left saying that they had learnt something, and will definitely help their understanding of the game, as well as being able to be a “linesperson”.
Thanks to everyone who participated, and enjoy putting the new found skills and knowledge put to the test.
